The Great Illustrated Classics edition of The Time Machine is an adaptation of the classic novel, rewritten for younger readers. This edition adds a chapter to the original story, in which The Time Traveler visits another time period.

Chapter 13 of this book, entitled "The Golden Age of Science, was added for this edition.

The Time Traveler, frustrated at lacking any significant achievement from the future, decides to make a stop some 300 years after his time.
